Dr. Suzi Hesser

My personal mission is to EMPOWER public, private, and homeschooling K-8 learners and their families by providing a clear understanding of academic progress in both reading and math through PERSONALIZED PROGRESS MONITORING along with DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, CONSULTATION, and TUTORING

I have been working as an educator for 27 years. Below is a list of recommendations provided by families and colleagues.

  • Suzi was one of the few teachers that understood the challenges of a learning disability. She altered lessons which not only helped my son’s learning but boosted his confidence & made him enjoy more than P.E. and recess at school. She provided a loving, caring environment in her 5th-grade classroom that made all of the students feel important. -Abby Dobkins, Parent
  • Mrs. Hesser was my son's 5th-grade teacher. She was kind and patient with all her students. My son has always been more reserved. She helped him come out of his shell. -Julianna Arreola, Parent
  • I am happy to say that Suzi is one of the most empathetic teachers that I have ever worked with. Her drive for excellence for herself and her students is second to none! I really appreciated everything she did as a superintendent to bring awareness to the importance of trauma-informed practices to our schools and help our district come around to making that one of our driving forces. -Kathy Evans Vines, Hoopeston Area School District Counselor
  • I found Suzi to be passionate and concerned about students.  She worked to create a supportive environment and build confidence in students.  She focused on the needs of each student. -Tom Bennett, Illinois State Representative
  • I had the pleasure of working with Suzi from 2015-2017 where, because of her love of learning, compassion for students, and passion for education, she was assigned as my mentor teacher, as I was a first-year teacher. She then became my partner teacher as we began to introduce the idea of "teaming" and "departmentalizing" to our 5th graders to better prepare them for middle school. She developed inspiring relationships with our students as she taught them the joys of reading, writing, and social studies. She made their education come alive and provided students with experiences, hands-on learning, and bringing in experts to the classrooms. Suzi's methods, and practices, still continue at Lincoln Elementary. I am forever grateful for her insight, patience, and friendship. -Haven Heller, Lincoln Elementary School Teacher
  • I would highly recommend Suzi Hesser as an educator. I worked under Suzi’s leadership as our middle school principal. Not only is she versed in educational best practices, but she also leads from a place of compassion that will recognize the whole child and his or her individual needs. -Debbie Brown, Parkside Junior High School Counselor
  • When working with Suzi, I knew that she was up to date on the best teaching practices. She was a student and teacher advocate and I could always count on her support. -Kris Zschiesche, Special Education Teacher
  • Mrs. Hesser loves and values students and will do what it takes to meet students’ needs.  She prioritizes relationship-building through a trauma-informed lens. -Rebecca Pabst, Parkside Junior High School Teacher
  • As a former 5th-grade student, Mrs. Hesser’s focus on literacy made a lasting impression on my academic career.  I can vividly remember sitting on the carpet, with my fellow students, each day listening intently to each book she read. -Katie Kuntz, Former 5th Grade Student
  • I had the privilege of working with Suzi as a co-teacher and administrator.   She is an excellent teacher/educator who has a huge heart for her students.  I would highly recommend Suzi!  -Lisa Mann, Hoopeston Area School District
  • Mrs. Hesser is an enthusiastic and caring teacher and made my daughter’s 5th grade year very memorable. The creative ways that she used to engage the students to learn and to also want to read a good book were beneficial in my daughter’s education. Because of Mrs. Hesser my daughter gained a passion for reading that has continued on to this day. -Heidi Crouch, Former Parent
  • Mrs. Hesser paved the way for my love of reading. She would read the best books to us in class. The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle is still one of my favorites. -Samantha Crouch Haertjens, Former 5th Grade Student
