MY MISSION IS TO EMPOWER YOU
Hello, and thank you for visiting! My mission is to EMPOWER public, private, and homeschooling families by providing a clear understanding of academic progress in reading and math through progress monitoring. This information will reassure you that your child is progressing educationally and help you to determine areas for future focus. My Educational Progress Monitoring Program consists of monthly testing to create a picture of the academic progress of your child. The assessments I use are provided through Pearson and supported by extensive research, administered conveniently online, nationally normed, and skill-based. The resulting information shows the growth of your child along with any learning gaps that may be present. The results are presented as graphs that you can use to visually compare the assessment results from prior months to the assessment results from the current month. This helps you to determine if the expected progress is being made. The graphs also show your child's results in comparison to same-grade peers, giving you confidence that your child is developing the skills expected for the grade level. On alternating months, I incorporate diagnostic assessments for reading and math. The resulting reports of this second type of testing give you important information about the specific skills in reading and math that are academic strengths and those that are areas for future instructional focus. MY TRAINING IN EDUCATION IS EXTENSIVE I am a lifelong learner with 29 years of experience as an elementary teacher, school principal, superintendent, and university professor. I have a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Aurora University in Illinois and am a certified teacher and leader in both Illinois and Florida. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) and Nationally Certified School Superintendent (AASA). I am a registered provider with the Step Up/Family Empowerment Scholarship in Florida. Currently, I teach college courses while providing online testing, tutoring, and consultation services to K-12 families. I live in Illinois with my husband, Scott. We have been married for 36 years and are blessed with a family that includes three adult children and their spouses along with eight grandchildren. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, spoiling grandchildren, playing golf, and playing games. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION |
